Sleep Medicine
More than 70 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders. Sleep is essential for physical and mental renewal, and long-term sleep difficulties can lead to serious medical problems. Flowers Hospital's sleep medicine doctors, sleep technologists and other clinicians are dedicated to helping you get a good night’s sleep.
The Sleep-Wake Disorders Center at Flowers Hospital is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and performs sleep studies on patients ages 12 and older.
We offer diagnostic and treatment services for a wide range of sleep disorders, including:
- Sleep apnea
- Narcolepsy
- Excessive daytime sleepiness
- Nocturnal leg jerks
- Insomnia
- Abnormal nighttime behaviors such as sleepwalking, sleep talking, bedwetting, teeth grinding, nightmares and night terrors
Patients with a strong family history of any of these problems should be considered for a sleep study. Results of your study are reviewed by physicians who are board certified sleep specialists. Sleep studies are typically covered by most insurances. Please contact your individual carrier to ensure coverage.
All of the procedures in the center require a physician’s order. You or your physician may schedule the initial appointment by calling (334) 794-5000, extension 1685.
