Heart Care
Heart Care at Flowers Hospital focuses on the functions and disorders of the heart and its connected circulatory system. According to the American Heart Association, nearly half of all U.S. adults suffer from some type of cardiovascular disease. Taking good care of your heart can help reduce your risk of developing heart disease that leads to a heart attack, stroke or other serious complications.
The Heart and Vascular Institute at Flowers Hospital has four modern cardiovascular labs where specially trained nurses and technologists work under the direction of board-certified cardiologists to perform diagnostic and interventional procedures. Additionally, board-certified cardiovascular surgeons work with a dedicated, open heart surgical team for patients needing advanced treatment. Flowers Hospital also has two cardiac intensive care units as well as a cardiac step-down unit designed to care for patients recovering from heart procedures.

Flowers Hospital is among the nation’s top performing hospitals for the treatment of heart attack patients and was the only hospital in the state of Alabama to receive the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain–MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2025.
