Flowers Hospital Names Employee and Managers of the Year

Flowers Hospital recently announced its Employee of the Year, Clinical Manager of the Year, and Non-Clinical Manager of the Year for 2020. Daniel Reynolds, cashier in Food and Nutrition, was named the 2020 Employee of the Year. Angel Griswold, BSN, RN, CCRN-K, director of intensive care units, was named the 2020 Clinical Manager of the Year. Emily Darnell, director of marketing, was named the 2020 Non-Clinical Manager of the Year.

“Healthcare requires a special blend of talents and skills,” said Jeff Brannon, Flowers Hospital chief executive officer. “Among all the skills needed to succeed in our industry, the desire to help others always shines through and this is exemplified in these employees.”

Daniel Reynolds, Employee of the Year
Daniel began his career at Flowers Hospital in January 2015 and currently works as a cashier in Food and Nutrition. Daniel’s managers describe him as dedicated, hard working, and dependable, but staff throughout the hospital know Daniel for his infectious smile and positive attitude.

“Daniel is a dedicated employee who is always willing to assist wherever needed with a positive attitude,” said Barbara Spann, director of Food and Nutrition. “He is personable with his customers and demonstrates a caring and helpful spirit. We are proud to have him on our Food and Nutrition and Flowers Hospital team.”

Daniel was chosen as Employee of the Year because of his genuine desire to help and encourage others while making a positive impact on their day.

Angel Grisworld, BSN, RN, CCRN-K, Clinical Manager of the Year
Angel began her career at Flowers Hospital in December 2001 and has worked as a nursing secretary, patient care technician, charge nurse, intensive care nurse, nursing supervisor, and nursing director during her tenure at the hospital. Currently, Angel serves as the director of the hospital’s intensive care units where she is responsible for the management and operation of three intensive care units and a 75-member nursing team.

“There is no question that Angel’s heart and loyalties are centered in providing compassionate care to her patients and effectively leading her employees in a manner that allows them to be successful,” said Dan Cumbie, Flowers Hospital chief nursing officer. “She accepts challenges and is one of the first to develop effective strategies to mitigate. She not only accepts tasks that have been asked of her, but she routinely exceeds expectations.”

In addition to her responsibilities as director of the intensive care units, Angel serves as a member of the hospital’s Environment of Care Committee and Emergency Management Committee. She earned an associate’s degree in nursing from Wallace Community College and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Westerns Governors University. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in nursing as well.

Emily Darnell, Non-Clinical Manager of the Year
Emily began her career at Flowers Hospital in January 2017 as the director of marketing where she is responsible for the creation and implementation of marketing and public relations strategies for Flowers Hospital and Flowers Medical Group. She also serves as the organization’s public spokesperson and manages various communication platforms.

Flowers Hospital Chief Operating Officer Matt Blevins describes Emily as an outstanding professional who exemplifies the character and culture of Flowers Hospital.

“Her hard work and dedication to the organization can be seen daily by her energetic approach to marketing the hospital and medical group as a professional marketer, and more importantly, as an ambassador, a spokesperson, and a champion. I always got the feeling that her hard work and determination came from a true desire to serve, to be present and valuable, and to advance a common cause,” said Blevins.

Emily earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Auburn University and worked in marketing in the communication and financial services industries for many years before joining Flowers Hospital. She currently serves as a member of the board of directors for the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce and the Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center and serves as a loaned executive with the Wiregrass United Way. She was named a Top 20 Under 40 award recipient in 2018 by the Dothan Area Young Professionals and continues to be a member of the DAYP organization.
